What do you need to make Carne Deshebrada
Chuck roast or skirt steak
Onions
Garlic cloves
Bell peppers
Red wine vinegar
Tomato paste
Beef broth
Cumin
Oregano
Salt and Pepper
Fresh jalapeños. These are just for flavor, they wont add any heat to the meat
Helpful Tips and Tricks
I usually cook the chuck roast whole but if you want to cut down the cooking time you can cut it into small pieces.
The bell peppers are going to cook down so much that they will disappear. I do this so my kids won’t find them but if you like a not so tender pepper, you can add them 20 minutes before the meat is done.
I like to add the jalapeños whole just to give the meat more flavor, but it is totally optional. As long as they don’t burst while cooking, the meat won’t get any heat from the peppers.
